According to a report by Informa Connect Academy, Elon Musk, the world’s richest person, is on track to become the first-ever trillionaire by 2027. Musk, who leads Tesla, SpaceX, and the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), has seen his wealth increase at an impressive annual rate of 110%, as tracked by the academy.

Musk continues to dominate the global rich list, with a net worth of $237 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. The report also suggests that India’s Gautam Adani, founder and chairman of the Adani Group, could be the second individual to join the trillionaire club by 2028. Adani’s wealth has been growing at an even faster rate of 123% annually, positioning him as the next likely contender.

To date, only eight companies globally have surpassed the trillion-dollar market capitalization mark, including tech giants Microsoft, Apple, Nvidia, Alphabet, Amazon, Saudi Aramco, Meta, and the most recent addition, Berkshire Hathaway, led by Warren Buffett.

A surprising name on the list of future trillionaires is Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, a leading chip and semiconductor company. Huang, currently ranked 18th on the global rich list with a net worth of over $90 billion, could soon join the elite trillionaire ranks.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is also predicted to achieve trillionaire status, but the report estimates it will take until 2030 for him to reach that milestone.

In other news, Musk recently made headlines for publicly supporting former President Donald Trump in the upcoming U.S. presidential elections in November, a move that adds a new layer of intrigue to the contest as one of the world’s wealthiest individuals backs the Republican party.
