Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is set to visit India on September 9 (Monday) at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Accompanied by UAE government ministers and a business delegation, Sheikh Khaled’s two-day visit aims to strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two nations.

On the first day, the Crown Prince will meet with PM Modi to discuss various areas of bilateral cooperation. Following their discussions, he will visit President Droupadi Murmu and pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

On the second day, Sheikh Khaled will travel to Mumbai to participate in a Business Forum, where leaders from both India and the UAE will collaborate. The Ministry of External Affairs noted that the visit will further solidify the strong India-UAE relationship and open new avenues for partnership.

India and the UAE are key trading partners, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $85 billion in 2022-23.

Prime Minister Modi last visited Abu Dhabi on February 14, where he inaugurated the city’s first Hindu stone temple. During his visit, Modi addressed the Indian community at the ‘Ahlan Modi’ event at Zayed Sports City Stadium and was awarded the UAE’s highest civilian honor, the Order of Zayed.

Earlier this year, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met PM Modi in Gandhinagar during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. The two leaders also held a roadshow in Ahmedabad, highlighting the robust and growing ties between the UAE and India.

The relationship between the two countries has seen significant growth, particularly following PM Modi’s landmark visit to the UAE in August 2015, which elevated their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. This partnership has deepened with the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in February 2022. CEPA has enhanced economic engagement by reducing tariffs, fostering a more open trade environment, and improving market access for service providers.

The UAE is among the top four investors in India, with substantial foreign direct investments in 2022-23. The strong bilateral trade ties underscore the expanding economic relationship between the two nations.
